Marcia's Experience
I am a Brazilian Portuguese translator with over 20 years of corporate experience, having worked for multinational companies based in Brazil and England. I have postgraduate degrees in Corporate Communication and Translation.
My previous working background enriched my translation skills, as I dealt with a wide range of projects in the automotive, pharmaceutical and IT industries, such as: translating reports for senior leadership, interpreting in business meetings and for international visitors, preparing press releases and product guidelines, subtitling videos, localising training material, among others. I also have In-house translation experience in one of the biggest gaming companies in the UK.
For me, translating is an art. It is not only about finding a word with the same meaning (this can be done by a machine nowadays). It is about making all the adaptations that are necessary for the text to sound natural, so the reader can’t tell it is a translation. That is how I work and 100% of my translations will certainly look as if it was originally written in the target language.
Another passion of mine is education, especially teaching. I provide English/Portuguese lessons, that are tailormade according to the student's needs.
